MG MGA - Tombstones for junkyard cars

When looking at two MGAs in a junkyard I wondered if anyone maintained a list of serial numbers from MGAs falling into this category. I frequently see people searching for "my old car" and thought this could be a good thing to add these cars to NAMGAR's database.

Now, my second question is, how do I find/view the current database of the serial numbers NAMGAR has already recorded?

Thanks,Pat

NAMGAR is delighted to have the car numbers to record them as junked cars. Get the engine number too if possible. Some statistical analysis of the accumulated data is published occasionally. Otherwise I have no idea what hoops you have to jump through to get someone at NAMGAR to dig out any specific information from the data base.

There is a great site for Jaguars at www.xkedata.com that records serial numbers along with pictures etc.

Such a tool should perhaps be bolted on to the front end of this forum website? That way all MG's could be registered? Not sure who is actually running it though.

Where are these junked cars?? Are there any usable parts? Are they repairable? How much do they cost? Much of this great forum is about bringing these cars back to life, including, as a last resort, putting several cars together to make one live on. If anyone knows of where to find these cars, please list them here, or possibly a new thread. Yup, cash is short but is also short to the yards where these cars are located. Can a few of us get together and rescue some of these? Just ideas. I have an excellent retired race car with a clean body shell and frame, but no interior parts or all of the detail parts for the attachment of the fuel system for example. With all due respect to the suppliers of the really good new restoration parts, I would rather find a totally rusted or "unrestorable" car as a donor of these original parts where possible to restore this car. That is what we do, where we can, after all.

Russ,
I really like your camouflage paint scheme. Is that pattern popular in California?

Ken,
The chrome 240Z wheels kind of spoil the effect!
