MG MGA - Tonneau Cover fit question
When I put the tonneau (short tonneau) it matches all the push dot fittings just fine however it doesn't match the "turn buckle" fittings just behind the door jamb at all. No amount of pulling tugging or streching will allow both to attach at the same time. The top seems to match to the turn buckles ok, with absolutely no stretching necessary. Is it common to have the fittings on the tonneau covers mislocated or could there have been a problem when the previous owner mounted the turnbuckle. Thank you, Tysen |

Most tops and tonneau's have to have the fasteners installed by the purchaser or installer. Got a feeling someone screwed up along the way with the tonneau, or it was originally fitted to someone else's car. |

Hi Tysen. I agree with Rob Carleen's assessment of the situation. You might think about the possibility of re locating the male, body mounted "turnbuckle fittings" so they will match up with the "ovals" on the tonneau cover. Hopefully the relocated fittings would still match up with the ovals on the softop. Some careful measurements would be in order. Just an idea. Glenn |

Glenn, Rather than relocate the turnbuckle and leave behind screw holes through the leather, plus mess up the fit of the top, I think I would rather move the eye hole on the tonneau and at some point get a new top and set the fittings as nessessary. or am I missing something? |

Tysen--I'd adjust the tonneau to fit your present fittings. You might have to get a scrap of matching material and sew it on to cover the old hole. An auto upholstery shop should be able to do theis for you. The oval fitting in the tonneau is very easy to install. Tonneaus' are much easier to re-do than tops, and a bit cheaper, too. I'd leave the half turn fasteners where they are. |
