MG MGA - Torque specifications

Gentlemen!
I'm about to refit the main and con bearing caps after changing the bearings.
Endless searches on the net gives me very little about torque settings on these parts for the MGA (1622)
Found a pretty complete torque setting table for the MGB, that states
70 lbft for the crank bearings and 35-40 lbft for the big end bearings.

Question: do the above settings apply to MGA 1622 as well?

As an aside, I wonder how many people calibrate their torque wrenches from time to time. It's certainly a number of years since I did mine. With the twist handle setting for most wrenches, how many people leave their wrenches under tension after use? I guess like most things permanently under tension, springs and the like will lose the accuracy over time.

I remember from my flying days that on the hangar wall was a calibration rig that the engineers used every time they changed the wrench settings on the job they were doing. i.e. a typical wrench would be calibrated many times a day.

I made up my own calibration rig using a 4 ft length of tube over the wrench; I put the square drive in a vice then hung a specific weight at say the 3 ft point from the drive to check that the wrenched clicked with the appropriate setting dialled in. Obviously not going to be totally spot on for a 'run of the mill' wrench, but it gave a good idea on accuracy.

i have two 1/2 drive torque wrenches. One is old, beat up and used as an oversize ratchet, the other is kept in its box and treated like a precision tool and only used as a torque wrench when I need one.

Incidentally the best tool I have bought in a LONG time is a 3/8 drive rechargeable socket wrench from Lidl. The thing is powerful and goes forever on a charge. It is a big improvement over having the compressor making a racket and a trailing hose. Cost was about 30 USD so probably cheaper in the UK. iF you see them please grab a spare one for me!

Ooops😒 That was a nasty one.
I've totally overlooked the settings in the manual.
Must be me old eyes needing a rebuild.
Thanks alot for your input, which led me to the right place.
Sorry for asking such an obvious question.

Anyway I agree whith Steve, and just want to ad, that it is important
to slacken the tension on the sping in the torque wrench when not in use.

Unless you have a Warren and Brown deflecting beam torque wrench with no springs. I would suggest a couple of ft pounds either way is not critical it is more important that they are all the same.
