MG MGA - transmission question
When installing the shift tower assembly after installation of the engine/trans, I noticed that the reverse selector plunger would not compress when I pushed on it. Is this OK? Thanks, George |

Yes, it is normal. That is the reverse lockout mechanism. There is a spring loaded detent on the vertical plunger that holds it tightly at the raised position. You have to give it a whack to pop it loose to be depressed, after which you can hold it down with your thumb. I the car you have considerable leverage with the hand lever, do you just bump it with your hand to get it to move left. |
