MG MGA - Transmission tunnel needed
A young friend of mine sold his Morris Minor and is starting to build an MGA. He is in need of a transmission tunnel. Outside of camping out on e-bay, any advice about tracking one of these down? I don't really recall ever seeing one for sale. Thanks, Gerry |

Gerry, I have an extra "short" section of the tunnel, the part that goes over the driveshaft between the seats, if that helps. George |

Steve, Not just the shifter cover, the entire tunnel is needed. George, Well, half a loaf is better than none, but where would I get the other half..:) Thanks guys, Gerry |

Call Celia at Scarborough Fair in RI - she has some stuff like that on occasion. Also, you can try calling Sam at Brit Bits in Rye, NH. Also call Leyland British in Kennebunk, ME...he has a pretty big boneyard of MG's. Odd that no one reproduces this part! It would be an easy part to make yourself, though - cover yours in Saran wrap and cast a copy in fiberglass! Good luck! JIM in NH |

The tunnel is produced by our "friend" Jorge in Mexico/California..sells on Ebay. |

if it's from Jorge you want to give it a very wide berth and find ANY alternative supplier. No one from this BBS who has ever dealt with him has been satisfied with what they received. |

You might try British Auto in Macedon, NY. |

Dominic, I got a front valence from Jorge - it fitted well, and was thicker material than the original panel. I was very happy with this product, and his customer service. Perhaps you only hear of the problems, and not about the successes. Peter. |

Keep in mind the tunnels for 1600/Mk are different than 1500. Get the right one. |

Hi Dominic..Jorge has had some bad press over the years, but I have bought several items from him, and generally they are good..the only problem with him is his postage pricing, which can be very high! |

"Keep in mind the tunnels for 1600/Mk are different than 1500. Get the right one." The last few months of 1500 production were GD1500 engines vs all the previous GB1500. The GD engine/trans use the same tunnel as the 1600's. |

Gerry, My basket case was missing the main tunnel (front section). I had one made by a company called British Miles in PA somewhere, but I don't know if they still exist. They did an excellent job. HJ |
