MG MGA - Twin Cam on e-bay
I was the back up person on e-bay who one the twin cam engine. The first person could not pay. Anyhow... I was contacted as the runner up winner for the amount of $5,700. The owner said he would pay for shipping. I contacted him and said I would have a truck in Atlanta on the 7th of October, this is where the engine is. Ross (owner) said he couldn't have my truck come by because his wife was home alone, he had moved to England. This struck me as odd, either way a truck would have to pick up the engine, right. Then Ross changed the payment method to Western Union, sent to him in England. Then he wanted it broke up into two payments and declared it was a loan to my brother in law, not a purchase. Ross said this was for tax reasons. I also found out, when you send money to the UK it costs $255.00. If you see this engine again, be careful. It may be real...then again... I have a friend in Atlanta who I was going to send over to look at it, but again, no visitors. |

Which coupe? what is his ebay name? |

A loan to your brother in law? They have this new device called telephone. Or is there a family feud? This story is getting stranger by the minute. Have you any ebay names? Second offer is initiated by the original seller NOT by runner up winner. |

Thanks for making us aware of this scam. When those "unobtainables" seem within our grasp, logic can tend to go out he window. Search for "ibook scam" and see how someone backfired the scammer. Cool story. |

I too received one of the second chance emails for the motor and was also instructed to use western union. I forwarded the emails to ebay and have since received an email from the seller also warning of the scam. As you say if it looks to good to be true it probably is. |
