MG MGA - twin-cam style access panel
Hi, I just heard about these panels. How effective were they at allowing more hot air to escape? I've been trying to find a good picture of a pair. Does anyone happen to have one? Thanks, Darian |

Darian, I have attached an image of an original Twin Cam wheel arch access panel. Is this what you want? Mick |

Darian, I have attached an image of a new reproduction access panel made by the company KAS in Australia. They make top quality items. Note that both the top and bottom of the opening slit are pressed depressions. Some reproductions have only one edge depressed. Mick |

Hi, Does anyone have pictures of these panels in situ? Chris. |

Thanks, that's what I was looking for. How good are these at dropping the engine temp? Darian |
Darian Henderson |
"How good are these at dropping the engine temp?" Probably not worth the expense. Other mods to the cooling system (modern optimal core, ducting rad etc.) will have more effect. |
Bill Spohn |
They are pretty good at "dropping the temp" of the owner, when you have to pull the distributor! |

Darien, Auto Vintagery sells new panels for $150 a set. http://autovintagery.com/newparts.html Check their web page for photos or check your Clausager, I know they're show in detail there on the car. |
Bill Young |
Note that you have to cut your inner wings to be able to fit these. |

the engine compartment is pretty hot even when they are not fitted. I found that the cutout to pull the distributor is far to small. Siggi YM3 1379 |
Siggi |
Siggi, Why don't you make more space to remove the Distributor? Removing the top radiator hose and maybe the thermostat housing is a real pain, and the access is still poor. I have attached an image from the book "MG Twin Cam - The first 50 years" which is on sale through the MG Car Club in England. A "must have" for mga twin cam owners. http://www.mgcc.co.uk I am sure that a neater panel and fittings could be made above the front right shock absorber. Mick |

That is of course the left front shock absorber! Mick |
