No idea of current status. Someone in the Twin Cam Register will have some figures no doubt. But as a starting point these were the production figures according to Clausager: Twin Cam total 2111 RHD 655 LHD 1456 Steve |

D.M. As you probably know the Yahoo group is the largest with about 330 members, some owning more than one car, but Robin can possibly offer a more exact number. If there's any Twin Cam'er out there feel free to register. www.mgatwincam.homestead.com I believe in the order of 80-90% of them went to the US and as the internet becomes more prolific through the backwaters more show up all the time. Here's a little side offering to give you an indication of how many are yet to be found. http://freespace.virgin.net/marka.hester/xx01_Twin_Cams.htm So 9 out of 22 so far... and believe me I have searched high and low for the others. email me off line also. Cheers <MARK> |

Hi D M There are several books with production figures regarding what went where, I don't know how many are left but I read somewhere that approx 60% of twin cams produced have survived. There were 323 coupe's produced of which 115 were home market (UK) RHD's. I am currently restoring one of them, YM1 1471. Regards Terry |

Thanks for the info. I have YD1 956, right hand drive. This winter I'm going to start a full resto. even though I've been told It's a waist of money. |

DM, Must be your wife that told you it was a waste of money... But a new handbag is a must... right !!! not see any pic's of 956 of the Twin Cam register. Perhaps submit one, there's plenty of un-restored cars posted there. There's some historical stuff on 956 there also. Also a CD is being put together of all TC's, you might want to submit a photo there also. Cheers <MARK> |

DM, According to the factory production records YD1/956 left the factory on 12/23/58 finished in black with red interior and a black top. The only optional equipment noted in the records for this car is that a reverse light was fitted. If your original transmission is still with the car it should have the switch fitted to activate the light. While yours is a home market model, I have YD2/1930 which is also RHD and finished in the same color as yours. Mine was shipped to the US and was sold new by a dealer in Hartford, Connecticut. However it appears to have sat unsold for well over two years. It was finally sold in late '61 or early '62 long after twin cam production had ceased. Good luck with your restoration. Frank |
