MG MGA - Urgent ..Sierra Conversion Clutch
If anyone has the details handy, could they please urgently supply the Delphi clutch type/part number used in the Sierra 5 speed conversion. We have a car stranded in Bishkek (on the China/UK drive), and need to ship in replacement parts. |

I've just realised that Dave is using an 1800 engine, and I think that the 5-speed conversion for the MGB motor utilises the standard MGB clutch. |

My 5-speed/1800 used standard MGB clutch. It should work unless he used the MGA release arm instead of the MGB release arm. Good luck Jim |

Gary, I think you need to post more info to be sure you get the correct parts. The supplier would need engine type (5 bearing or 3 bearing), flywheel being used ( MGA or MGB , bell housing type, clutch release arm and release bearing types etc. To be certain, contact the people who supplied or fitted the conversion. In the UK Bob West Classic Cars would probably know or Hi-Gear engineering who make most of the conversion kits over here. Let me know if you need telephone numbers etc Best of luck Colyn |

Thanks Colyn. We have sorted out the clutch details for the 1800 MGB 5 bearing motor...it utilises the standard MGB clutch/arm etc...parts now on the way to the outpost...the conversion was a Hi-Gear one BTW. For my standard 1600 MGA motor with the Hi-Gear conversion, do you know the clutch details for this?...a Ford part number I believe? I havn't tried ringing Peter Gamble, as the time difference makes it difficult...any ideas please? |

Gary, the "standard" Hi Gear conversion for an MGA 1600 would use normal MGA lever, throw-out bearing, and pressure plate, but uses a same 23 spline friction plate as found on the early MGB. |
