MG MGA - Valve Cover

Wasn't someone looking for a valve cover for an MGA earlier. This one was posted on Ebay under MGTD. Not sure if that is what it actually is - but it looks similar to the cover that someone was looking for for an MGA - he was trying to match the cover found on his fathers MGA.

It may be a TD cover - it is somewhat unusual - not the coffin style seen often or the finned style seen n many cars.

"Original after market" - not sure what that is either!
Steve

That's an interesting cover, although not the same as the one I am looking for. But thanks for taking the time to post it anyway!

I had a random thought the other day, that it would be kinda neat to weld up a "coffin style" cover for an A or B out of aluminum. Something to be added to the list of project ideas that I will probably never get to.

Definitely not an MGA cover. Original is a steel pressing with a breather pipe.

The seller does say it for the MGTC/MGTD.

Without giving dimensions it is not easy to confirm. However, it does look similar to an aftermarket cover I used to have for my 1948 TC.

Hi all.

Thought I would hitch a ride on this thread. I am looking for a cap for (it seems) an unusual alloy valve cover I have bought for my '57 MG Magnette. I bought it knowing it had no cap thinking I could easily locate one. Not so. I have been looking for almost a year!

Rather than describe it, here is a link to my current Want It Now posting on Ebay:

Thanks for your attention,

Andy,

It looks similar to a radiator cap fitting. Would it be possible to butcher one of those?

Would NOT fit an A the bolt holes are off to one side.

Hi Dan,

I suppose it might be done, but I saw several of these covers with nice shiny chrome caps on Magnettes at Norwich in September, and a radiator cap would not compare with these I am afraid.

All the best,

That offset on the holes makes me think it may be for an A Series head rather than a B series. So it may be for an early midget

The T series folks confirm it is for an XPAG. Interesting cover though
