MG MGA - What engine oil
I have recently had my engine overhauled, rebore, new pistons, crank ground, new bearings, rear oil seal etc, and wondered what oil to use. I have been told 10/40 semi synthetic is OK. What do you think? Thanks |

Just be sure it has a sufficent amount of ZDDP (zinc) in it or use an additive. Most modern oils are formulated without it because newer cars have roller cam followers (less load than flat tappets) and ZDDP is bad for catalytic converters. Cheers, GTF |

I used a straight 20/50 during the running period before going for a semi synthetic. This allowed all the rubbing bits to bed in before coating them with the slippery stuff. Steve |

and don't use zddp during the running in time |
