MG MGA - Where have all these good ones gone?
Does anyone know the whereabouts of these missing web sites? (All broken links). Connecticut Nutmegs (NAMGAR) h ttp://www.nutmegnamgar.com Saint007 - MGA 1960 getting 1974 Jaguar V12 conversion h ttp://homepage.mac.com/saint007/PhotoAlbum38.html 100,000 Miles - Rally around the world with MGA h ttp://www.mgcars.org.uk/cgi-bin/gen5?nextform=/carclub/frameset.html&page=sf100204.htm Scott Campbell - 1962 MGA MK-II h ttp://homepage.interaccess.com/~campbell/MGA.htm The In-Point PTY Ltd - vintage MG tool kits h ttp://web.one.net.au/~in_point Classic Conversions (5-speeds) h ttp://www.classicconversions.co.uk MG Cars and Other Things - Wayne Kube h ttp://web2.airmail.net/wkube British Car Number Plates - How the numbers work h ttp://www.britishcarnumbers.com North American MMM Register h ttp://www.nammmr.com/nammmr COVA/CVAG - Council of Vehicle Associations & Classic Vehicle Advocate Group h ttp://www.covacvag.org |

Barney, the MMM web site is found under The Triple-M Registry. It's a very nice site. Baz |

Barney, Is this the Australian tool kit outfit? Maybe under a new name? Rich http://members.optushome.com.au/inpoint/index.html |

At least the British car numbers one works if you leave out the extraneous space "h ttp". The domain "http://www.covacvag.org" has apparently been sold to some other entity. Many of these personal sites get changed when you change ISP, or in my case, when your ISP changes something. My site went from: http://www.usachoice.net/gofanu/ to: http://users.usachoice.net/gofanu (I think, I forgot about it til you raised the issue - have to try it!) Worth searching a bit to find out where some of these went. FRM |

We have solved Connecticut Nutmegs. The NAMGAR chapter affilliation was transfered to Connecticut MG Club. The Nutmegs web site that was set up fot GT-29 has been closed. I haven't figured out yet if the Nutmegs still exist independently or if they were absorbed by Connecticut MG Club. We have solved The In-Point PTY Ltd. They have changed URL to: http://members.optushome.com.au/inpoint North Amreican MMM Register seems to be okay now. It was not working for at least a couple days before I asked. The reason for the space in "h tml" is to intentionally kill the link because this BBS does not accept more than 5 hyperlinks in one message. British Car Number Plates still does not work. It defaults so a search page. This was a nicely done commercial web site offering some choice of plate numbers for sale or trade (for rather high price). I presume the domain registration expired and the ISP is posting this in its place. Apparently the domain name is up for grabs. IMHO it should be illegal to post anything under an unregistered domain name, especially one that was recently used legitimately for other purpose. covacvag.org is another domain name apparently expired. It is "Extended RGP" which is apparently a money grab scheme to milk the customer for an excessive renewal fee after expiration. The page displayed there is a links list of on line services, probably paid ads through the same outfit, but nothing to do with COVA or CVAG. Ditto prior comment about should be illegal. Classic Conversions same as COVA/CVAG. I don't know if these will ever be renewed. I was hoping they might show up under a different address or someone might know the company(s) well enough to ring a bell. 3 solved and 7 to go. |

Barney- Interesting about the no more than 5 links, how'd you find that out? The recycling of domain names is indeed v annoying. Got my site link sorted, seems it now needs a tilde, which they forgot to install when they changed the server. FRM http://users.usachoice.net/~gofanu/ |

Barney - try wkube@augustmail.com, and he may be able to give you his new site if he has one. He is a member of the Texas MG Club in Dallas/Fort Worth so they may also be able to help you. Ed Sass is the contact - esass@cola.org. Regards, Peter. |

Thanks Peter, I'll give wkube a try. FRM, - The 5 links limit was learned via the school of hard knocks one day when I was once trying to post a message with 7 links. The rest of the message was plain text, so I thought is must have one of the links on a spam list or such. No matter which one I removed, one at a time for 7 tries, it still wouldn't go. When I removed two links it worked. Live and learn. |

Latest news: Wayne Kube's web site is temporarily off line, indefinitely, pending completion of a V8 transplant. I guess he's busy. Anyone wanting to see his web site back on line might offer to help him out with the engine installation. |

Three more links found: Classic Conversions (UK) http://website.lineone.net/~classicconversions/web Not the same address, but it works. MGs in the Garage - David F. Darby http://geocities.com/motorcity/downs/4598 Back on Geocities again, and it looks like a recent update. British Car Number Plates http://www.answers.com/topic/british-car-number-plates Different web site, but looks comprehensive. 6 of 10 solved, not bad. I've given up on the other 4 and removed the links. |

Just in case anyone doesn't know, this site has most of the internet archived. www.archive.org It won't help with finding missing supplier sites, but if you are looking for old information pages try the archive.org site. It did have the 100,000 Miles - Rally around the world with MGA page. |

Hey, thanks Jeff, - I can link to the 100,000 Mile Rally Around the World there. This one still has the pictures (which is a little unusual). See here: http://web.archive.org/web/20060307220301/http://www.mgcars.org.uk/cgi-bin/gen5?nextform=/carclub/frameset.html&page=sf100204.htm I usually do check the Way Back Machine at www.archive.org. If the page URL has changed within the past year it may not be archived there (yet). |
