MG MGA - Wilton AE solid state Regulator needs to be revved
So I had Bob Wilton convert a voltage reg to solid state. Nice looking conversion. It works fine, but every time I start the car I need to rev the engine up a bit for the light to go out then it stays out. Anyone else have this issue? |

Had mine converted a couple of years ago. Have not had a similar issue but I don't have her all that finely tuned. Idle is just north of 1k. Something isn't right if you have to give the engine a good rev to make the light go out. Check with Bob. I can say that the electronic voltage regulator has been a worthwhile investment. Even though I had a NOS Lucas regulator and a newly rebuilt generator the head lights tended to dim at idle and occasionally the battery would run down. No more, the converted regulator seemed to have cured previous ills. John |

Well, Bob Wilton got back to me and indeed this is the way the SS reg works. So all is well. |

Actually, his name is Bob Jeffers. He just happens to live in Wilton, NH hence the Wilton Auto Electric. |
