MG MGA - wiper woes
On removal of the gearbox plate of the wiper motor the crank pin was found to have excessive play. On inspection the bronze? bush the crank pin fits over (bush fits on pin extending from the gear wheel) was completely worn in two. I expect these bushes are no longer available but I'm ever hopeful, can anyone offer suggestions I really don't want to fork out a fortune for a complete wiper unit for the sake of a small bush. Many thanks Mark |

Bronze bushings are common generic parts. Get the measurements for the bush ID, OD, and length. Check with a local bearing supply house for a bronze bush with those dimensions. It will be a light interference fit in the housing, and up to 0.002-inch clearance on the shaft. I have some bearing catalogs. Given the dimensions I might be able to find it on line. |

Wow Barney thank you. The difficulty is the bush is completely in two with the centre section disappeared. so other than a shaft dimension and an o/d presuming the hole in the crank pin will give that I do not know the height but then I could guess and file to fit. Mark |
