MG MGA - wiring diagrams

Does anyone know where I could find a copy of the wiring diagram for a 1500 MGA? I don't have a shop manual for the car yet and I'm installing a new wiring harness.

Thanks,
Dave

Dave,

Have you read Barney Gaylord's web pages? Easier to follow than the circuit diagram in the Workshop Manual.

http://www.mgaguru.com/mgtech/electric/circ_a.htm

I will scan and email a diagram from the mga twin cam Manual which has the 1500 body and fittings. It should be the same as the 1500 pushrod.

Mick

P.S. From your email address did you own a year 1972 VW 2 Liter? I had one of those (Kombi).

David,

Having recently put a new harness in my 1500 I can confirm that Barney’s web site is a must.

Can I suggest that you get a colour copy of Barney’s diagram, a circuit tested and a pile of tie on labels and set yourself down every evening identifying each cable, what it’s for and where it should go. When you have completed this fitting should be a lot easier.

Hi Mick,

Thanks for the link to Barney's website. Also, I appreciate the wiring diagram that you sent. Hopefully I can get the new harness installed this weekend. The VW that I had was a '72 beetle that I drove in high school. I sold it since I'm in college now but might get another one someday.

Cheers,
Dave

Hi Garreth,

Yes, Barney's site is very helpful. I have good shop manuals for all of my other MG's except for this A ( since it's a friend's car). He doesn't know much about working on them, so I'm helping out.

Thanks,
Dave
