MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - weber shortage
Hi all Just about completed my conversion tried the engine with a couple of zeniths make sure it was OK before purchasing a Carb. I have tried to get hold of a weber kit and nobody seems to have them tried RPI, a local firm called Harpers and the MG owners club. no one has them in stock. Anyone out there have any ideas where to get one or maybe even a holy or second hand SU setup Any help would be gratfuly excepted. suppose I could cut a hole in the bonnet and use the zeniths :-) Mick |

Mick, I have one in my garage but I'm waiting to use it in a back to back test with Holly, but it may be some time before I offload one of them. Try Real Steel then I would try the V8 converters. Frontline Maidstone Sportscars Cox & perry, MG Motorsport or some of kit car places Hawk NG Dash. Paul |

Mick, Terry Brown at Freckleton Rovers had a set on a second hand V8 engine last time I was at his yard, but did'nt seem too keen to get rid. As he is originally from your part of the country, he may be persuaded to part with them, I think his website is F-R-C.com, but I've got his phone number if you cant catch him. Mike Barnfather |

Michael when you say a set on a V8 I guess you mean SUs the problem with them is the manifold from Clive Wheatly costs nearly as much as a weber if it wasn't for that I would fit SUs i quite like them. Is there a stockist for Holly carbs in Britain? Mick |

Mick, Repower 01903 522900 Weber authorised dealer Abbey Sportscars sell webers Webcon 01932 787100. Real Steel 01895 440505 V8 Specialists have most parts for V8 including Holly etc Paul |

Michael, He says that its a Webber, it's not an SU, its omounted vertically directly into the inlet manifold, which was evidently modified to fit. It has'nt got an air cleaner on, but seems aboutb the same height and layout as a Holley. Mike Barnfather |

Hi I have found this Holly for sale http://www.geocities.com/mick_black2000/micks.htm I dont seem to be able to get much info apart from it "will suite V8 small block, has been fitted to engine 327" (Whats a 327) does anyone recognise it will it be any use for a rover 3.5 in stock form ( hope the short cut works never had a web page before!) Mick, A 327 is a Chevy engine having that many cubic inches of displacement, about 5.4 liters. Chances are that a carb used on that large of an engine may flow too much air for a 3.5 liter engine. Usually a 4-barrel carb for the 327 Chevy engine flows 625 to 750 cfm, and wouldn't be a good choice for your Rover. It wouldn't run well, in my opinion. Best, Joe |

Mick I do have a Holley 390cfm 8007 with 14" Low rider air filter set up for a 3.5 Rover also got thermo housing CX2624 and Holley handbook. It has never been used, (new) just sat around for a few years. Life took many different directions! If you are interested please contact me directly. Might Help, Richard |

There's this place in Northampton that wrecks Rolls-Royces for spares. I understand a Silver Shadow II manifold with twin (huge) SUs is a very close fit. |
