MG MGB Technical - 15 inch wire wheels
Hi, I've recently acquired a 1972 mgb roadster and I'm in the process of having some 15 inch wire wheels fitted. In my research I can't find any details of MGB's having this size of wheel. Can anyone shed some light? Oh and before anyone asks yes we are changing the rear axle to one that is an inch shorter so that the new wheels don't rub on the wheel arches Thanks in anticipation. |

Martin- The MGB wasn't offered with 15" wire wheels. However, the MGC had them. MGC wire wheels will fit onto the hubs perfectly. I have 15" Dayton wire wheels on my MGB and they work just fine, enabling me to use 195/60 tires. |

Martin, Give some thought to tire size. Too large a tire will result in rubbing. It can also affect the speedometer. Low profile tires can minimize the error that the larger wheels will introduce. |

Martin, I have the 15"x 72 spoke MGC wheels on my MGB and suggest you visit the archives, where over the last couple of months there have been some threads on the disadvantages of having heavier wheels. It does make a difference. cheers |
