MG MGB Technical - Air filter backplates for HS6/HIF6 Carb
I am now running my re-engined 72 BGT (for about 6 weeks now). Everything is working well with my O Series engine, taken from a 1986 SD1. However, the carbs are HIF6's and connected to the Rover SD1 filter chamber. I'm not sure what to do regarding the filters, would I be better off fitting the coopers filter back plate (assuming I can find one) and fitting K&N's or leaving the Rovers inlet chamber in place. Any comments woould be appreciated. Steve |

Steve You will get better airflow if you use K & N stub stacks with K & N filters I think MGOC do them Chris |

Chris Thanks for your reply. My main problem is space on the passenger side of the engine bay, putting Standard K&N's for MGB with 44mm Su's along with the longer SD1 manifold makes for a very tight fit. Thats why I was looking to use the Coopers base for a HS6/HIF6 with a pair of K&N's. Opted in the short term to use SD1 intake but would think K&N's will improve this. Steve |
