MG MGB Technical - Aux driving lights - to headlights

Anyone wired aux driving lights to the regular low beam headlights? If so - how does one wire the new lights?
Ed

Don't wire them to your headlights. Mount the aux lights and provide a good ground. The feed wire sould be switched through a relay. The relay can be mounted close to the fuse box and it can draw directly from the unfused brown wires at the fuse box or the starter solenoid. Run two wires from the relay to the dash and install a switch of your choice. For wiring and a complete discription check out this web site. http://www.mgcars.org.uk/electrical/index.html

Click on relays on the left and it will tell everything that you need to know.

In general fog lights can be hooked up through a relay to the low beam circut with driveing lights hooked up through a relay to the high beam circut.I like to put a switch in each circut so I can use the headlights without the fog/driveing lights but when I turn off the headlights the aux. lights are not left on.-Ric

I recently installed driving lights on my B. I feed them through a relay and feed the relay with a 3 position (on-off-on) switch. One hot wire comes from the high beams and one from an ignition hot wire. In this way, I can have the lights work with high beams on and go off with low beams in one position and work with lights off as day running lights in the other and not have to worry about leaving them on and running the battery down.

Power aux lights via a relay and the parking lights. Gives you the option of having dipped/main with or without aux and vice-versa, and the aux will still be off when the main lighting switch is off.

If you've got a worn stalk switch, you can have high beam and dip simultaneously, providing all the functionality of driving lamps without the expense merely by wiggling the stalk to the right place.
Wiring loom gets a little warm though....
