MG MGB Technical - BLMC : microfiches set Xfer tp pdf fi

Any idea for that operation ?
I have just got a complete BLMC microfiches set about MGB & GT . Unless someone did that previously , which way to proceed in to import them to a pdf file more accurate and readily usable on a laptop. If anyone intereted in, I could supply it through email ( depending on size ).Is it mandatory in this case to have a high definition (pickcell) numeric camera ?
On the other hand, I can reach an ftp site for download.
Pleased to read back your answers .

Renou - I would suggest that you find the closest LDS Family History center (not to worry...they don't try to 'recruit'!). Most of them now have a film/fiche reader that will scan the film/fiche images, save them as a photo file and then burn them to a CD. This would probably be your easiest way to go. You could then covert the files to .pdf format at your leisure. If this is not available, check with a larger public library for such a scanner/reader. Good luck - Dave (by way of my wife Liz the genealogist)

Dave ,

Many thanks , of course "our family story" are implemented here in France: They do collect old family/pictures for resell. About the foreign format import into pdf format file, it works fine from an AGFA scanner. And tomorrow at work,I also will check
migration solutions availability. When realized, I'll keep you informed.

I'd be interested in seeing a sample, but suspect they would have to be pretty big files to capture the detail and also suspect there are a couple of hundred fiches. A list of contents would also be good.

Renou,

Making these available over the web would be great. There is a man who has already done this with some MG related material. It may be worth contacting him. He will know what to do and his sight may be a good place for the material.

Look at www.1978mgmidget.com/manuals_and_booklets.html

He may be a midget man but I think he is OK.

Dave,
Thanks for the heads up on the LDS connection. That is an easy one here in Boise, and I would bet we might just have some LDS members in our club who might just copy some tech info for us. That is a great idea!
Bob Muenchausen

Bob,

You don't have to be an LDS member to use their geneology facilities. My brother is heavily into researching our family history. He lives in Orlando, where there is an LDS center. He uses it all the time.

However, Renou asked about creating a pdf file. AFAIK, there is no way to create a pdf file other than by using some rather expensive software from Adobe. The software that comes with most scanners will create .jpg, .gif., .tif, and other formats, but not .pdf.

I just checked Adobe's website (http://www.adobe.com) and they have a service that allows you to use (but not download) their PDF creation software online. It costs $9.95/month, but the page mentions a free trial. Perhaps Renou can have the microfiche scanned into a .jpeg file and then use Adobe's online facility to create a pdf file.

Paul

Do a Google search on "pdf creator freeware". There are a number of programs available.

Paul, Larry ,

Some computer graphics softwares allow scanned pics import to pdf output format files . In fact the main pb. in this case resides in capturing the micro pic. from the fiche to convert it then to a standard sheet page format in a high definition manner . Once that done, a solution exists .
Many thanks for your cooperation .- Regards -
