MG MGB Technical - brake fluid leaks
Well here's strange issue. Ok, so I had both clutch and brake master cylinders sleeved in stainless steel. Done at a place in Minneapolis called, Brake & Equipment. They rebuilt the brake cylinder. After I installed it, the brake cylinder leaked like crazy. Where was it coming from? Well apparently they didn't check for leaks, and the resevoir was just gushing from the seal. So I pulled it back out, and replaced it with a spare. No more leaks, right? Nope, now the clutch is low on fluid! AAARRGGhh! Now this is a '77 automobile, that I have changed to the earlier, non power boosted cylinders. So they are much more difficult. But I'm a mechanic right? So I clean off everything, and continue to search. It's not losing fluid anymore, but wet with fluid next to the fill cap. Strange? I'll keep an eye on it. And open to any suggestions. You may have filled your clutch reservoir after bleeding the slave cylinder with the piston still depressed. When you released it--excess fluid could have come out thru the vent? Wasn't there--so I'm just taking a WAG. |
