MG MGB Technical - Brake System
i own a 1977 MGBGT which is in bits when we got her. we have been through all the manuals and there is nothing to show me how the engine bay brake line set up goes. we have the standard pedal box set up on one side and on the other there is a remote servo unit. if anyone could send me a photo or do a drawing it would be a great help cheers tris |

One brake line goes from the master cylinder, across the top of the heater box, clipped onto the bulkhead near each of the bonnet hinges using the outer bolt of the hinge to hold the clip - it connects to the side connector of the servo. The return line fits in the end connector of the servo and runs across the front of the heater box behind a heat shield and clipped there, to a four way block that also carries the hydraulic brake switch for the brake lights. One line runs from the block down the inner wing and under the chassis rail to come up to the bracket that holds the flexible hose to the caliper. One line runs down the inner wing beside and in front of the first one and turns forward along the side of the chassis rail, across the top of the rear flange of the crossmember (clipped to it), back along the other rail and under it to the the bracket that holds the flexible hose to the caliper. The last line goes down the inner wing beside and to the rear of the other two and turns rearwards to run into the channel that also carries the main battery lead and other wires. It ends up on the bracket that takes the rear flexible pipe to the rear axle. |

I should have said that the four way block is mounted on the inner wing below the fuse box! |
