MG MGB Technical - Clutch pedal problems
My clutch pedal on my 67 BGT started getting stiffer and stiffer today until it finally completely siezed. Any ideas what the problem might be? Bernie |

Bernie, A description of how the clutch itself was performing may be of some help in solving your issue. That said, I'll just guess. Your clutch slave flex pipe has deteriorated to the point where no fluid can pass thus no movement of the master cylinder. To change--unbolt clutch slave first, then take hose off. After cleaning the tip, see if you can blow air through it with you mouth. There should be little to no resistance--like blowing through a straw. Good luck |

Hi Another possible first step is to try bleeding the clutch, if it won't bleed normally there is a problem in the pedal pivots, master cylinder or pipe. Don |

Have you still got some free play in the pedal? If not the pedal pivot is probably the problem. If so then either the master has siezed or you have the collapsed hose as previously mentioned. Slackening the pipe at the at master or the top of the hose (reputedly difficult) will tell you which. |
