MG MGB Technical - Clutch slave cylinder piston
Hello, Can anyone tell me which way the piston goes into the clutch slave cylinder. The piston has a flat face at one end and is concave at the other. I assume that the flat face of the piston goes towards the flat piston cup and the concave end receives the clutch push rod. The diagrams are not detailed enough to show this. Of course, if I had paid more attention to the set-up when I dismantled it..... Many thanks Richard

Richard yes you are right the concave end receives the clutch push rod. Andy.

Thanks Andy, I guess it affects the position of the clutch push rod relative to the clutch release bearing too. The Haynes manual does not show this linkage, although the gearbox chapter does show the lever which I presume attaches to the release bearing. I was trying to think through how the relative position of the clutch push rod affects the operation of the clutch but to no avail. Cheers Richard

To "b"owners regarding clutch slave cylinders. If you have trouble bleeding the clutch take off the slave cylinder itself and push the piston in by hand i.e. bar, scewdriver e.t.c. and you'll find this work's a treat cheer's vic

Fill the system from the slave nipple i.e. with a gunsons Eezi-Bleed on very low pressure and you don't have to bleed at all.
