MG MGB Technical - Conversion To Chrome From Rubber

i've had a 78 rubber bumper for 22 years, although I love it dearly, recently I rebuilt a 69 midget, the looks , the ride way out perform my old GT. So I am considering the conversion.
Without going over the top, what is the best way of converting it? ( please dont suggest selling and buying a proper one)
Are these conversions fround at?
Is it legit. to buy a pre 72 banger and convert using the reg?
Any comments apreciated Ray

Ray:

It's a common swap. It will drop well over 100lbs from your car. Probably easier to buy one of the kits on the market. You will have a bit of welding and spot repair to the rear Tail-light area. Check the archives for LOTS more info. I believe there is even a site or two that details the job.
