MG MGB Technical - Cooling system pressure?
Hello all, I have the very common issue of a temperature gauge incorrectly reading hot and have read loads of archives on the matter. One thing I noticed the other day, my cooling system does not seem to have any (or very much) pressure. I can get the car to actual running temperature and easily squeeze the radiator hoses by hand. I discovered this when I went to verify coolant temperature with a candy thermometer (there's no real over-heating). I have replaced the radiator cap and have no apparent leaks. Shouln't the radiator hoses be under pressure and very difficult to squeeze?? Thanks, David |

David theyusually are under pressure unless you have a leak somewhere in the system. If you can find someone with a cooling system pressure checker have the cooling system and the cap pressure checked to see if either has leaks. Clifton |
