MG MGB Technical - Correct brake pipe kit?

I have recently purchased from Moss, an Automec Brake Pipe Set, Moss No. 183-188 for a '79 MGB. The flares on the ends of the pipes appear to be what I call standard flares. In the Automec instructions, they say "Universal flares are deliberately used in every instance, to be sure of giving you the safest flares possible." The original pipes on the car have a bubble flare, ISO I think they are called. Will the Automec pipes work or did I order the wrong kit? Thanks in advance for any help

Larry, I ordered the same kit from Moss a few weeks ago for my 79 MGB. I also noticed the different flare. However, I went ahead and fitted the set and it seems to work just fine. The only mistake I made was with the long pipe. That's the one from the master cylinder to the rear connector. After bending it and fitting it to the car, I found that the connectors on each end are a different diameter. The small end screwed nicely into the master cylinder. However, when I got to fitting the other end to the connector under the car, I found that the diameter was too big. Needless to say panick ! I removed the master cylinder end, checked the diameter, found that my suspictions were correct, removed the pipe, rebent it, refitted it, then breathed a sigh of relief. Almost a disaster. Thank goodness the pipes bend easy.

Harry,

Thanks for the info. I will now go ahead and start installing the new lines tomorrow morning.
