MG MGB Technical - Disappearing brake fluid
Checked the brake fluid last week and found that I had lost about half of the fluid in the master cylinder, I topped this up, checked the whole system for leaks and can't find a leak anywhere. Since then I have covered about 180 miles with no loss of fluid, I am told that I could be losing fluid through the servo, which is connect to the inlet manifold, and burning it in the engine. If that is the case why haven't I lost any in the last 180 miles, and how can I check if the servo is OK, I don't want to buy a new one unnecessarily. Many Thanks, Dave Bates England. |

Flid level will go down without loss if there is rapid wear on the pads. Take the vacuum hose off the servo and look inside the hose for traces of fluid. |

If you are losing brake fluid through the servoe and sucking into engine...it burns with a dense white cloud emitted through the tailpipe. This is the telltail sign.....rick |
