MG MGB Technical - Electric fuel pump skips a beat
I have a low mileage (24,000) 1970 GT. Should the electric fuel pump have a steady, consistant beat or is an irregular beat OK? Mine tends to be more irregular than steady. Is it dependent on the amount of fuel in the tank? Is it wise to just replace the points? Maybe it just needs angioplasty ;)
... or a pacemaker LOL, but no, neither. It's not a problem, the pump only ticks when it supplies fuel, so several times fast to fill the carbs at switch on, then at a rate dependant on fuel use. Much of the time you can't hear it above the axle whine :-)
Thanks for the tip, Rich. I did get the car out for a little cardio workout this weekend.
