MG MGB Technical - Exhaust Manifold
Part of the exhaust manifold on my 1970 1275 midget has broken (an "ear" has broken off). Is this manifold a unique part or could I substitute the manifold from another A series engine? It has been suggested to me (by a mini specialist) that it is possible to remove the carburettor fixings (actually a large chunk of metal!) from a mini manifold and carefully shave down the casting to arrive at the right shape for a midget using an angle grinder because there is a thick piece of casting between the part of the manifold needed and the carburettor extension. Has anyone tried this? I have been told at a mg specialist that proper midget manifolds are as rare as rocking horse droppings! |
