MG MGB Technical - Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield
The fiber material in back of the heat shield to the manifold is scraped gone, looks like a dog chewed on it. I have gone to a couple of speed shops and auto stores to try to get some material but they could not help. I dont want to fork out the $70+ for a new one. Does anyone know what is a good replacement for the fiber mesh? Thanks. |

That original stuff is/was asbestos. Don't mess with it. Go to the local Home Depot and look in the a/c isle for insulation material. I think Bob Meunch. had a line on something decent to use. Maybe he'll chime in. Luigi |

also check with Gordon at the Bhive....think I got new one for much less when he had it on sale. When I get mine off I might get the insulation he describes and fix it up and sell it. What year car? |

Home Depot - Plumbing section. Look for a soldering insulation blanket. You'll get enough really high temp woven insulation to do two shields. Doug |

The B is a 71 Roadster. |

D Sjostrom has the correct info. Easier than screwing around trying to get it at NAPA or the local hot rod shop. |
