Fill to until oil runs out of the filler hole but do not over fill. |

Hydraulic fluid, not oil as such. I use hydraulic jack oil, others recommend motor-cycle fork oil. The factory did mention a thin mineral oil if the correct fluid wasn't available. Fronts have the filler hole on the side, so are tricky to get oil in but easy not to overfill. I use an infants syringe with a short length of plastic tubing for topping up. Long-winded if you have dismantled them and drained it all out, so fill off the car lying on their side, then remove the screw when fitted and allow any excess to drain away. Rears have them on top, so much easier to get fluid in, but also possible to overfill. Leave them at least 1/4" below the bottom of the threads. |

Thanks your advice guys. I am doing a bench service on a second hand pair. Clean out all the old oil and start afresh. I have to say the shocks are destined for a midget so i am now back off to the midget forum. rgds tony |
