MG MGB Technical - Frontline Front Suspension

Has anyone fitted/has experience with the Frontline front suspension kit?

No I haven't, but I have fitted Hoyle front and back. The rear kit is very expensive, but the front kit isn't much more than Frontline. If you look at the comparison photo you will see that Hoyle (on the right)is a much more sophisticated conversion. The lower arms are now tubular and the shock is inside the spring, the best place for it.

Crucially, the spring on the Hoyle has moved much closer to the hub, meaning that you can use much softer spring rates without compromising the handling.. The springs are a stock item available from most car tuner establishments and are pretty cheap so you can play with rates. My GT runs on 200 lb/in front springs. I think the standard MGB spring is more than double that.

The Hoyle does require a small piece to be cut off the end of the cross member and a curved blanking piece (supplied) welded in instead. Hoyle can supply a modified cross member on an exchange basis. You don't have to buy the fancy brakes!

I love it as the car rides so well, and as a bonus the camber is easily adjustable with snail cams should you want a bit of negative camber.

I have front and rear Frontline suspension conversions, fitted by Frontline, on my 1973 midget, I have found Frontline 'borrow' ideas and then do very little development on the items from there on.

The AVO dampers (a local company to me) in my kits are good but too hard really for road going Spridgets, mine are set soft at 1 or 2 out of 13/14 clicks of adjustment and I have uprated front ARB and springs (standard rear springs, only).
