MG MGB Technical - Fuel Hse
As a precaution, I am changing both rubber fuel hoses on my 72B (before and after the fuel pump, the current hoses are more than 13 years old). My car has a 2 simple 18 inch hoses & clamp set up. The question is, the local NAPA offers both high pressure and low pressure fuel lines. The high pressure hose is 6X (>$6/ft.) more costly, but I believe low pressure hose would be sufficient for the B, and that the high pressure is designed for fuel injection systems. Any opinions? |

Joe The low pressure hose should be fine ,its what Im using in all 3 of my Bs, your assumption is correct hi-pressure for fuel injection. Happy New Year Gil |

Joe - Maximum pressure from any SU fuel pump is 3.8 psi. the ones for the MGB are 2.7 psi. Low pressure hose is quite sufficient. Cheers - Dave |

From another thread there was a comment about replacing current fuel hoses with fuel injection hoses as they are resistant to ethanol. This is protection against the harmful effects of the higher mandated ethanol levels in the gas we use. I would assume that the higher pressure hoses, as least some of them, are the fuel injection hoses that are ethanol tolerant. FWIW Larry 72 BGT |

Joe, The high pressure hose is designed for FI engines and is re enforced to handle the increased pressure. Have a look at the cut end and the fabric sleeve should be evident. Most EFI systems run at about 100 psi at the injectors. The standard hose should be OK for the B pump pressures. Pete. |
