MG MGB Technical - Fuel leak

I seem to have broken a fuel line at the fuel pump after lowering my 79 B 1 1/4 inches. The cause seems to be the sway bar hitting the fuel line. Do I need to remove the sway bar? If so, how will this effect the way the car handles. Understeer vs Oversteer.

Thanks and best regards,

Tom

At the risk of stating the bleedin' obvious (as Basil Fawlty would say), why not reroute the pipe?

I it would be a good idea to address that problem ideiately reroute or at least remove the sway bar until you can be bothered to reroute you dont want any petrol getting on the exhaust.

A back pressure issue?

Note:

The fuel leak was caused by an improperly installed fuel pump. The mechanic that installed the unit did so by placing the fuel lines directly over the axle where the sway bay connects. I had to reinstall and rotate the fuel pump 90 degrees. It seems to have provided the necessary clearance.

On a personal note I must state that the courtesy displayed on this BBS has dropped a couple of notches. When I fitst came to this site looking for my 1st MG I was greated warmly, but I have seen this site spiral in a negative way of late. Please help keep the door open and attract others to the knowledge that is on this site.

Best regards,

Well Tom, at the risk of upsetting you even more, if you are now telling us the fuel pipes had been moved to a position where they could be damaged by the sway bar, the originally suggested solution does rather seem the way to go.
