MG MGB Technical - Fuel Line

My 1972 B stopped running on Saturday, unfortunately on a beautiful sunny day. The fuel filter was totally blocked with brown sludge. I had put 7 gallons or so in that morning and the fuel from the tank drain is clean. The pump appears to be new, so I quess I have a rusty fuel line. How hard is it to replace? Is it one or two pieces and if 2 where's the join? Moss only list the rear line from the pump in their catalogue, so shoulkd I look at the replacement kit from Victoria's?

Easy to replace, what there is on my B is a rigid pipe from the tank to near the pump, then a rubber pipe into the pump, then a rubber pipe out to a rigid pipe that goes to the front of the car. I would replace all the pipes, What I did was order the pipe unmade, and bought several olives and nuts etc, depending on the tipe of filters you have, push in or fixed, depends on what you need to order. The worse thing is climbing underneath the car and undoing the clamps that hold the (loom/brake pipes/fuel lines) to the bottom of the car, there is about 8, very oily and dirty so watch your eyes. What is also a good idea is to fit a filter before the pump as well as in the engine bay.

I would discourage adding a filter between the fuel tank and the pump, especially if you are using an all electronic fuel pump. If the fileter before the pump becomes clogged it will cause the pump tho stop pumping in the current on condition. When this happens, it causes the swamping resistor to burn out on the standard SU fuel pumps and will burn out the electronics in an all electronic pump. The check valves in the SU fuel pumps have sufficiently large passages that only very large pieces of debris will lodge in them. Dave
