MG MGB Technical - Fuel line routing
Just added webber carb and cannon header to a 77B. The fuel inlet to the webber is on the inboard side (engine side) of the carb. The metal fuel line stops in a vertical position just below the inline filter bracket to the right of the master cylinder. Can anyone help with suggestions or ideas of the fuel line routing to this awkward position of the webber inlet? Thanks, Dan H. |

Just re-routed mine last year. Got tired of the gas hose being so close to the manifold. If you notice on the inlet to the carb that it looks like they could have put the inlet on the other side. Well, you can drill and tap the other side, move the brass inlet connector and put a brass plug in the original side. Make sure you clean out all the metal chips extreamley well or you'll jam the float valve and flood the carb. I learned this the hard way. You can then get about 4 feet of gas hose and route it over the brake booster, down the inside of the left fender and loop it right over to the new inlet. Hope this helps. |

William, Thank you. I was trying to avoid the drilling and tapping. How difficult was it? What size bore?,Tap? |

The drilling was easy, and I just happened to have the proper tap laying around. I'll have to look tonight and see what size it was. I know you can get all the fittings and plugs at Lowes or Home Depot. Where are you located? I'm in North Huntingdon(Irwin) outside of Pittsburgh. |
