MG MGB Technical - Fuel pipes to and from pump.

Help,I replaced the fuel tank on my 1980 MGB GT and whilst I was doing it decided to renew the fuel pump because the old was in a poor state. When I do any work on the car I take photos then I know how it should look when I have finished, guess what I didn't, and now the fuel pipes going to and from the pump don't look right, does anyone have a diagram showing just how they should fit.

Have a look at http://www.mgb-stuff.org.uk/wn_fuelframe.htm and click on 'Fuel Pump Mounting'. The rubber bumper pictures are of a 75 V8 but it should be much the same as yours, a friends 1980 was.

Hi Paul sorry I took so long in saying thanks, you come up trumps once again and the fuel pipes now look just like the photo. I am now renewing the kingpins, it never stops but it keeps me of the streets, ops I shouldn't say that because that is where I want to be.

No probs, glad to have helped. I've been involved with a CB fuel pump much more than I would like lately, a friend has been having leaks from the tank pipe, which first he thought was the banjo union so replaced the fibre seals, then he thought it was where the union was screwed to the pipe and in attempting to tighten that split the pipe. In the end it seems like it was the pipe pin-holed a little way back from the union all along.
