MG MGB Technical - Fuel pressure setting
I have just purchased a new fuel pump for by ’72 BGT, from EKs. Works fine, too fine…it now floods my DCOE. I’ve now also fitted a fuel pressure regulator (Filter king) and ‘T’d in a 0-9psi pressure gauge. The pressure fluctuated between 3.5 and 5.5 psi. My question is; what ‘should’ I set the pressure to? And should it fluctuate, I assumed that the point of having the pressure regulator is that is removes the ‘pulses’ to a steady 2psi or whatever. |

You want 3-4psi for the DCOE. I guess the pulses are the pump firing but have not needed a regulator with the standard pump so sorry can't comment on whether it's norml to see the pulses. |

Thanks for the advice Steve, I'll set the regulator to 3.5psi and see if it stops fluctuating. |

Tony, I ran a DCOE for 12 years in my MGB and found that it ran best at 1 1/2 lbs. The carb, being mounted a good distance from the engine, is highly prone to flooding from higher pressures. Ray |
