MG MGB Technical - Fuel pressure setting

I have just purchased a new fuel pump for by ’72 BGT, from EKs. Works fine, too fine…it now floods my DCOE. I’ve now also fitted a fuel pressure regulator (Filter king) and ‘T’d in a 0-9psi pressure gauge. The pressure fluctuated between 3.5 and 5.5 psi. My question is; what ‘should’ I set the pressure to? And should it fluctuate, I assumed that the point of having the pressure regulator is that is removes the ‘pulses’ to a steady 2psi or whatever.
Tony

You want 3-4psi for the DCOE. I guess the pulses are the pump firing but have not needed a regulator with the standard pump so sorry can't comment on whether it's norml to see the pulses.
Steve Postins

Thanks for the advice Steve, I'll set the regulator to 3.5psi and see if it stops fluctuating.
Tony

Tony, I ran a DCOE for 12 years in my MGB and found that it ran best at 1 1/2 lbs. The carb, being mounted a good distance from the engine, is highly prone to flooding from higher pressures. Ray
