MG MGB Technical - Fuel problems
LACK OF FUEL TO CARB AFTER REPLACING LEAKING FLEX LINE, PUMP RUNS CONTINUALLY PUSHING IR TO THE IN LINE FILTER NOT fuel pump, DOES NOT SHUT OFF. 1978 MGB, thanks for any help |

Air is being sucked in between pump and tank or pump connections have been reversed, or tank empty or poppet valves in pump are not seating!!!!! |

Which flex? I replaced pump hoses immediately after having the ignition on to move the car. On turning on the ignition I had exactly the same thing ... took me a couple of moments to realise the carbs were still full from before i.e. float valves shut so the pump could not prime itself. Started up and a couple of seconds later the float valves opened, pump primed and refilled, and shut off. |

Nice one Paul, but I bet it wasn't the V8. Fuel evapourates in no time on mine! |

As it happens it was the roadster, but the engine had only been running long enough to position the car, so I suspect the same thing would have happened on the V8. Parked hot I can hear the fuel boiling in the V8 float chambers and see vapour pouring out of the vent pipe. |
