MG MGB Technical - Fuel pump breather hose
Here is another mystery - where does one install the fuel pump breather hose? There is a nipple on the part of the fuel pump that rests outside the boot on a 77 - easy enough - but where to route the other end of the hose? The manuals are silent, and the only other reference I have found is in the parts manuals - but alas, only illustrations of the attendant parts are to be found. While I can understand the urge for double entendre, I really need to know. Thanks. |

See the article, SU fuel Pump vents in the SU Fuel Pump Articles section of my web site for all the answers to your question (and even some you didn't ask). Cheers - Dave |

On a '71 B/GT the hose goes up into the trunk through a rubber grommet and is terminated with a plastic "T" fitting to prevent it from falling out. |

A chrome bumper car can have two vents, one from the electrics end and one from the diaphragm, both terminating in the boot, a rubber bumper only has one as the electrics end is already in the boot. As well as Dave's have a look at http://www.mgb-stuff.org.uk/wn_fuleframe.htm, click on 'Fuel Pumps' and the relevant thumbnail. |

As always - many thanks for the generosity of those who respond. Another mystery in the restoration process solved. This BBS is invaluable. |
