MG MGB Technical - Fuel Pump Replacement Questions
The PO of my 79B had installed one of the New Zealand made fuel pumps, I am replacing it with a new original style SU. The new SU has two small barbed fittings, one at the back and one in the middle near the electrical ground connection. The New Zealand pump does not have these barbed (air?) fittings. My question is, is anything supposed to be connected to these fittings? There are no instructions with the new pump, are SU instructions available anywhere online? Thanks! |

Yes, small bore plastic pipe like windscreen washer pipe runs from these to a "T" piece and then through a small grommet in the boot floor near the bulkhead and termintes in another "T" piece. It is there to ventilate the pump. |

Thanks for your help. There is no tubing in my unit so I will reconstruct it. Does the tubing then vent to the outside atmosphere? |

Ending in the T-piece vents it to atmosphere. My 73 has a pump with fittings both on the body and the end cap, requiring different sizes of tubing and T-pieces. The RB pumps with the electrical connections in the boot/trunk only need the one on the body. |

Thanks so much, this is the exact info I needed! |
