MG MGB Technical - Fuel Pump Specs ?
Hi , my MGB electric pump puts out a steady 3 PSI and pumps exactly 14 Oz. of gas in 30 seconds , nontheless I keep on having fuel starvation problems with the front two carbies . I sent my spare fuel tank out to be de-rusted and lined but I feel the is a red herring as the pressure stays up even when the car begins to run on two cylinders . Just tuned it yet again , installed John Twist rebuilt dist. new plugs & wires , carbies been re-bushed and balanced by some one better than I good compression across the board , when it's running it runs sweet and smooth right untill it runs out of fuel (I think) , does it need more volume ? . the 3 PSI should be correct I think . Thanks in advance , -Nate |

Don' t know much about the fuel pressure. Reading through your posting it would seem that you have had some sort of trouble with a fuel tank rusting out? If so have you ensured that the carbs, fuel line and pump been cleaned out.... to ensure a good flow of fuel they ALL must be clean. HTH |

I agree with Mr. Kimber, check the lines. While your at it, check the screen on the fuel pump (if it has one). 3 PSI sounds about right, so I don't think it's the pressure. Check your fuel filter, or if you don't have one, install a see-through that will show if you have rust contamination. Good Luck!! |
