MG MGB Technical - fuel pump voltage
hi, I have 12v going into a lucas electrical fuel pump on the white wire; whilst on the ground going out voltage is down to eight. the pump only works intermittently. Is there anything i can do apart from replace? Ta |

voltage on the ground should be 0v. which means either the cable, connectors or connection to the body is suspect. Fit a new/change the ground cable and try again. MGmike |

Where are you checking the ground? I'd expect it to be zero if the ground is good. I'd start by making sure the ground connection is sound. But make sure you're testing it correctly -- if you're getting 12v at the input and 8v at the output (i.e. ground) then the fuel pump is only "seeing" 4v and I'm surprised it would work at all.... EDIT: Looks like MGMike and I were crossposting! |
