MG MGB Technical - Fuel Pump Wiring

I went to look at a '73 yesterday and ended up buying the car. The body and car are in very good condition, but there is a small wiring problem.

The guy that owns it tried wiring the fuel pump up for some reason. Well, when he did it, something went wrong and as he put it, "I fried the wire." I think that he just tried to run a wire off of the fuse panel (I don't know that much about wiring yet, so forgive me if I am not being descriptive enough).

What color are the wires running to the fuel pump? I think that I am just going to have to order a new harness. Does anyone have a picture of the where the wiring starts under the hood? I just started ordering books, so I don't have anything to reference yet.

Thank You

The electrical help is very good but doesn't answer your question!

Look at the back of the engine bay on the (US) passenger's side. You should find a loom running down from the cluster of bullet connectors that has a white wire and several other green & striped wires - it runs down the bulkhead and turns rearwards to run along the underside of the car near the fuel line and main battery cable.

The white wire is the fuel pump feed.

Just pull the bullet out of the connector and run a new wire from the connector to the pump, following the route of the harness.

If the wire is fried between the connector and the upply, then run a wire from the ignition relay to the connector - it is a good idea to put an in-line fuse in this supply to save frying it all again!
