MG MGB Technical - Fuel tank restoration?
Does anyone know what is at the end of the feed tube inside the tank of a MGB, '70 GT? Is it just a tube or is there a sock on it like a midget? I did a home sealer job. I blew air thru the tube when I did it. When I blow into the tank from the feed tube I can only hear the faintest sound of the air? Wonder if this is the way it is supposed to be. Of course have not tried to suck fuel out or hook up pump yet, still out of the car. Thanks for any suggestions. Mike |

Mike, I believe there's supposed to be a 'sock' at the end of the tube. I recall reading archive threads where sealer clogged those things. Dave |

Dave Yes that's what I'm wondering..I know Sprites and Midgets have a sock, but you can get to it thru the sending unit access hole if needed and poke some holes thru it. Not able to do this on a B tank...Mike |

Am now reinstalling the fuel tank. Where are the new packing strips supposed to be positioned? Running along the outside of the raised portions (strips) on the fuel tank? Viewing the catalogs has me in question. |

Mike, Referring to the strips on top, they go along (really any) of the raised areas. I just space mine out evenly and bob's your uncle. Dave |

Dave, thanks. I know that was almost too stupid to answer. Apreciate it. Mike |
