MG MGB Technical - FYI - yet another Fusebox alternative for MGs

A gentleman sent me an email the other day, making me aware of a new fusebox that he and his company are selling. You can check it out at this URL - http://www.classic-technologies.com/

His comment:

"Also, I am now supplying the wiring needed to retro fit this box into the existing harness w/ the proper color scheme. I am working on supplying the wire for a completely new harness. This box is a huge timesaver for anyone wanting to rewire their car and just trying to get the word out."

It's a nice box but at $320 it seems rather expensive.
It doesn't appear to be a plug and play item because it has universal applications. You can buy good fuse/relay boxes from cars in salvage yards that can be adapted, probably the box will cost less than $50 from a salvage yard. I bought one a few years back from a Toyota Corolla for $25. If I understand the specifications it has only one relay for two headlights. Relay goes out you are in the dark.

Over the years I have adapted many fuse boxes to many cars, Clifton is right, $25.00 should cover the cost with ease, and that should get you 10 to 20 fuse circuts and at least 2 or three relays. look for under
hood units as they handle the weather better then under dash units. Ric

There's already a purpose built one for the MGB, but buy the time you have included headlight relays and auxiliary fuse panel that is double the price of this.

Are they screwed terminal blocks to connect the harness? Don't think much of that.

Wonder how they power both main and dipped beam through a single relay, and like Clifton says that is definitely not a good idea. Wonder how many fuses they have for the filaments ...

There are plenty of these offered as kits, and others many of us have adapted ourselves. I just pass it on as a courtesy to the developer. It's a little too late for me to be considering one at any price - did that years ago.
