MG MGB Technical - Handbrake lever spring
I'm getting ready to lubricate the brake parts in the drums. I have a 78 mgb roadster. Looking at the diagrams in Haynes and Bentley I see two springs from one snoe to the other. Moss shows a "spring, handbrake lever". But neither Haynes nor Bentley shows it. Is this spring necessary and if so how is it connected. George |

All you need to know is on Paul Hunt's web site http://www.mgb-stuff.org.uk/rearbrakes.htm#1 As you have a Salisbury axle on your 1978 car there should be a handbrake spring with a fat coil at either end sitting just above the hydraulic cylinder. The pictures and text on Paul's site explains everything. |

There should be three springs for the Salisbury - one at the top and two at the bottom, and all are required. The manuals and suppliers sites are confusing, hopefully the page Mike references will explain it all. |
