MG MGB Technical - Hazard Flasher Location

I have a 1977 mgb roadster, the turn indicators work ok but the hazard flash is not working.

I belive that the hazard flasher is fed from an inline fuse but I cant physically find the fuse or the flasher unit. Where about should I be looking?

Thanks

Originally the hazard flasher and fuse were very inconveniently situated behind the centre console, on UK cars at least. Very late cars (UK again) have the two flasher units in identical spring-clips on the lower edge of the firewall in front of the driver behind the dash, this was possibly the case from 77 on. I can't recall where the fuse is on those, but it will have brown wires both sides and is the only one that does. I don't think it is by the fusebox like other in-lines are, but check. The odd thing is that the turn flasher at least stayed on the right-hand side for left-hand drive cars, even though more logically it should have changed sides, like the instrument voltage regulator did.

Thank you for your help.

My 1977 MGB Roadster is a left-hand drive US model.

I have now found the 2 flasher units under the glove box on the right hand side but still cant find the fuse.

Have you checked for voltage on the brown at the flasher when they are turned on? You only need the fuse if you don't have 12v there.

I did have 12V on the brown wire at the hazard flaser, read with a meter, but as soon as I turned on the hazards the voltage dropped to 0V. So obviously a high resistance connection somewhere.

I Eventually found the fuse staring me in the face all the while, it is an inline fuse right by the fusebox but with 2 white wires not brown!! Discovered the joints to the brown wires hidden behind the wiring loom.

Anyway after cleaning the fuse contacts the hazards work.

Thanks to everyone for your help.

Glad you found it, but definitely something screwy with your harness, no way should wires change from brown to white and back again.
