MG MGB Technical - headlamp setting

i want to check the height settings of the headlights on my 1972 MGBGT can anyone help with info. as to the correct heigth?
W Wilkinson

Drive up to a wall or garage door on a flat and level surface. Stick a bit of tape on said wall or door in line with the centre of each headlight. Back up 10 or 20 feet or so, and on main beam the centre of the pool of light should be in line with but slightly below the tape. On dip they should switch down and left from there.

BTW, if you are going to get it MOT'd soon after leave the headlamp rims off in case they want to adjust them further. I wouldn't let them get the rims off themselves as they are likely to damage the paint even if they know how.

Paul, I need to change one of the headlights on my 79 MGB..... will I need to adjust lamps?
Don

I'd say that if they are sealed beam (which a 79 should have), then although they *should* be constructed to the same dimensions, it would be wise to check them afterwards. In fact check them first, then see if they have changed, and only adjust them if they have.

If replaceable bulbs in the glass and reflector assembly there is probably less likelyhood of the beam being different with a new bulb, but check before and after with this type as well.
